Les Gaudes

the name means weld (or “dyer’s rocket” ) - reseda luteola

in former days woad (isatis tinctoria) was used for the colour blue madder (rubia tinctoria) for red and
weld for yellow

surveys show that this little part of the municipality is known as
‘les Gaudes’
may be the plant was cultivated here in former days
but it can no longer be found

.

Anyway it seems to be a good name
for
yellow = sun = light = merriment = vacation
