Les Gaudes
The Limousin includes the three departments Creuse, Haute Vienne en Corrèze. This is an unspoilt region, not yet discovered by mass tourism. Tranquillity and fresh air are the keywords for this region. A beautiful countryside inviting you to take long or short walks. There are several good golf courses , the nearest being in Limoges. Culture: There are several interesting museums nearby :   Limoges, known as the city of porcelain  the musée National de la Porcelaine ‘Adrien    Dubouché ‘ , Place Winston Churchill musée des Beaux-Arts Palais de l’Évêché, Place de l’Evêché This houses a beautiful collection of enamel work dating from the middle ages and renowned worldwide. Châteauponsac has a very interesting museum portraying life in the region through the ages. You can find Roman architecture in many of the churches and frescos can be seen (e.g. Paulhac).
From the apartment there is a magnificent view over the valley of the river Gartempe  and the mountains of Ambazac (‘Monts d’Ambazac’).
There is swimming and fishing at the ‘Lac du Pont à l’Age’ , a small artificial lake about 5 km away. Also trout fishing in the river Gartempe.
Shopping can be done in Fursac, la Souterraine and Limoges. A list of the local morning markets is available.
