Nature- and artlovers
Many road-maps are available for
walkers.
A nice starting point for an adventurous
walk is the viaduct de Rocherolles, a
54 m high railway viaduct over the river
Gartempe, built in the middle of the XIX
century. You can follow the river and
there is a chance you may see a
kingfisher or a black-bellied dipper. You
might even be really lucky and see
some otters.
Walking in the ‘Monts d’Ambazac’
provides you with beautiful views of the
countryside. Here you can walk for
hours without seeing anybody.
On your walks you can often meet
deer.
And why not follow a part of one of the
Limousin routes of the pilgrimage of
St. Jacques to Santiago de
Compostella.

Birdwatchers are perfectly placed on the terrace in front of
the apartment or somewhere in the garden to see among
others the following birds;
goldfinches, hedge-sparrows, several kinds of tits,
robins, black redstarts, stonechats, spotted
flycatchers, linnets and twites, greenfinches, etc.
In summertime the sky is full off swallows and sometimes
House Martins, they come to drink and bath in the little
pond.
You can see green woodpecker as well as great and
lesser spotted woodpecker and if you are lucky the
hoopoe and the golden oriole, the red-backed shrike,
the hen-harrier, the red and black kite, kestrel, and of
course the buzzard.
Near the river Gartempe the kingfisher and the black-
bellied dipper may also be seen. In the evening all kinds
of owls can be heard.
Early springtime and in the middle of automn cranes come
over on their migration route to and from Extremadura in
Spain. Unforgettable.!!

sculptures and fountains in bronze.
